Women in Business Mentorship Event: Leveraging Opportunities in the digital space
The theme for the IWD 2023 was “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” –it aligned with the priority theme for the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67), “Innovation and technological change and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”
This year, we recognized and celebrated the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education. IWD 2023 explored the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities. Bringing women into tech spaces results in more creative solutions and has greater potential for innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality.
AECF hosted a virtual event that sought to increase women’s awareness and capacity to access, use, and audit digital spaces.
During the session, we also launched the second call of the #Nkwanzi Scaling Women SMEs Project – an #investment readiness programme funded by the African Development Bank Group as part of the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (#AFAWA) that unlocks the potential of women-led enterprises through capacity building on fundraising by improving their potential to raise commercial capital.
